Údarás na Gaeltachta

An identity that pays homage to Gaeltacht heritage in a contemporary way.

Údarás na Gaeltachta was set up to preserve and strengthen Irish as a living language. Established in 1980, one of its primary objectives was to support initiatives that use native skills and natural resources. The identity pays homage to this heritage in a contemporary way. The weaving lines reflect those native skills as well as representing how the Údarás is woven into all elements of the Gaeltacht community.

As a Government agency, the brand guidelines we developed were heavily informed by the Government of Ireland branding. In addition to the usual branding contents – typography, colour system, sample application etc – these guidelines included a detailed signage system for parks and offices.

Applications

We applied the identity across various corporate media, such as stationery, strategic reports, exhibition materials, animations and infographics. We also produced a 40th Anniversary book that charted the history of Údarás na Gaeltachta and showcased some of their achievements since their foundation by the IDA in 1980.

We also designed, built and manage the Údarás website. A key consideration in our website design was that it would be effortless for the editors to add content in two languages. As part of its enterprise development remit, the Údarás promotes local businesses with several initiatives. We created a sophisticated directory of local companies tagged by location and business type. The website continues to evolve as the organisation does.
