West Kerry Museum

Visitor centre located in a historic Schoolhouse, highlighting the diverse natural and cultural legacy of the Dingle Peninsula.

The West Kerry Museum, also known as Músaem Chorca Dhuibhne, vividly displays the Dingle Peninsula’s extensive natural and cultural history. The collection spans a remarkable timeline from prehistoric eras to contemporary times.

In collaboration with the museum, we crafted a story that enhances the significance of its remarkable exhibits. These include Ogham Stones, Standing Stones, and early Christian Crosses. We arranged for aerial photography and artistic illustrations to enrich the historical stories, providing a deeper understanding of their context.

We created a typeface called ‘Chorca Dhuibhne’ for interpretation headings, signage, publications, and the new identity. Inspired by the local area, the letterforms of this typeface draw from stone carvings and the cló gaelach typeface, commonly seen in historical Irish typography.
